The worst UK job loss figures, for the start of February, in a decade!

1–9 February - 16,178 job losses detected
1–9 February - 10,842 job gains detected

The 16,000+ job loss figure, for the first 9 days of February, is the worst in the past decade, and is 36.5% up on the 11,854 losses for the same period in the the second poorest year, 2011. The job loss figures are spread across a rang of sectors including: retailing, manufacturing, financial services, engineering, public services, construction - and even luxury boat building!

If the losses carry on accumulating at the same rate for the rest of the month, the loss figure will be over 50,000 for the shortest month of the year.
